Not another chat window. Evidence for the file.
General AI chat is good at general questions. Compliance review needs a result a broker can check in seconds, hand to a client and keep in the E&O file. That is the job Barkrow is built for.
Five reasons brokers use Barkrow.
Every answer cites the page
Ask about a contract, a policy or a certificate and each value comes back with a verbatim quote, the page it came from and a confidence band. On a PDF or a scan the passage is marked on the page, so checking the work takes seconds, not a re-read.
Not found means not found
A value the document does not support is reported as not found, never given an invented page. The confidence band stays visible on every value, so a weak read is plain to the person reviewing it.
A workspace built for client files
Row-level tenant isolation, private documents that stay uploader-only even against admins, identifiers tokenized before AI processing, and no training on raw customer content.
A record you can keep
An append-only audit trail on every run, kept in the brokerage’s workspace rather than in one person’s chat history.
Named broker workflows, in pilot
Check a Contract, certificate checks, renewal changes, quote comparison and policy review run by name and return a structured result. They are in pilot with a small group of brokerages; ask to join.
General AI chat and Barkrow, on the same file.
General assistants are built to answer anything, and the business plans of the major ones do not train on your content by default. The difference is not privacy alone; it is what comes back and whether you can defend it.
| Topic | General AI chat | Barkrow |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Any question about any document. General-purpose by design. | Commercial insurance review: policies, quotes, binders, endorsements, certificates and the contracts that drive them. |
| What comes back | A written answer in the conversation, shaped by how the question was asked. | An answer grounded in the files you uploaded, each value with its quote and page. Named broker workflows that return a checklist or matrix are in pilot. |
| Evidence | Depends on the product, the feature and the prompt. | Answers about your documents cite the page, with the verbatim quote and a confidence band. On a PDF or a scan the passage is marked on the page. |
| When the file is silent | The vendors’ own help pages say answers can be wrong and ask you to verify important information. | A value the document does not support is reported as not found, never given an invented page. Low-confidence reads are flagged for review. |
| Contract requirements | Possible one conversation at a time, if you write the prompt and check each answer against the file. | Ask what a contract requires and each answer quotes the clause and cites its page. Check a Contract, which turns every obligation into a checklist and measures policies against it, is in pilot. |
| Your clients’ documents | Business and enterprise plans do not train on your content by default. Consumer accounts can, depending on their settings. | One brokerage workspace. No training on raw customer content, row-level tenant isolation, and private documents stay uploader-only, even against admins. |
| Sensitive identifiers | The model receives the text as you provide it. | Detected identifiers are replaced with tokens before AI processing. Detection has limits, and the security page says which. |
| The record | A chat history, kept or deleted under the account’s retention settings. | An append-only audit trail on every run, inside your brokerage’s own workspace. |
From the clause to the endorsement.
A services agreement asks for four things in section 9. Check a Contract, in pilot, reads the contract, reads the policy, and answers each requirement with the page on both sides. Open any cite to see the line it rests on.
- The limits match the declarations page, so §9.1 is met.
- The additional insured form reaches ongoing operations only, and no completed-operations endorsement is in the policy, so §9.3 is a gap.
- There is no umbrella policy in the file, so §9.2 reads not found rather than a guess.
- §9.1CGL $1M each occurrence, $2M aggregateCommercial General Liability with limits not less than $1,000,000 each occurrence and $2,000,000 general aggregate.$1,000,000 / $2,000,000Each Occurrence Limit $1,000,000. General Aggregate Limit $2,000,000.Met

Where Barkrow sits.
Certificate tracking platforms
Usually run by the certificate holder: the owner, lender or general contractor collecting certificates from vendors and subcontractors. Barkrow sits on the broker’s desk, where the contract, the policy and the certificate can be read side by side.
Policy checking tools and services
Compare one policy with another document, such as the expiring term. Barkrow starts from the contract requirements, so the question is whether the coverage meets what was promised; its renewal comparison is in pilot.
Underwriting AI
Built for carriers and MGAs deciding whether to write a risk. Barkrow is for the broker who has to show the client, and the E&O file, that the placed coverage matches the paper.
The questions brokers ask first.
- Why not upload the policy to a general AI chat assistant?
- For a quick question, that can be enough. Compliance review needs a result you can check and keep: Barkrow answers questions about your documents with a verbatim quote, the page and a confidence band for each value, reports a value the document does not support as not found, and keeps an append-only audit trail on every run.
- Our business AI plan does not train on our data. Is that not enough?
- It answers the training question, and Barkrow does not train on raw customer content either. The difference is the work product: answers about your documents cited to their page, in a workspace built around your clients. Named broker workflows that check contract requirements against certificates, quotes and policies are in pilot.
- Does Barkrow replace general AI chat?
- No. Chat in Barkrow answers general questions and can research the web, with each web answer linked to its source; answers about your documents cite the page. Drafting an email or summarizing an article is still a job for whatever assistant you already use.
- Can Barkrow be wrong?
- Yes. AI output can be wrong or incomplete, which is why every value carries the page it came from and a confidence band, and low-confidence reads are flagged for human review. Checking a cite takes seconds, not a re-read of the file.
- Is Barkrow tied to particular carriers?
- No. Barkrow reads the paper whoever wrote it, with no per-carrier templates and no per-carrier integrations.
